D'OasEY Jones. , THE UNIVERSITY MATTER. The Raleigh Call Says that the Defeated Towns are Envioni and Jealous. The Raleigh Call publishes some extracts from the Durham Sun, Greens boro Patriot and The Day, and then moralizes'in the style: There's a moral to all this. The hands nut 1. w forward are to null him back, not to push him on. His puruoses may be g0od, his aims noble; but Jealousy and Envy are ever putting obstacles in his way. If he persevere, however, and J finally win in spite of difficulties, then the same world that opposed itself . to his progress is the one to cheer and ap- niaud mm most louaiv and 10 iawn most servilely. 1 Then let the citizens of Raleigh foim a stronger bond of unity. Let opposing obstacles intensify Raleigh's efforts. Let Perseverence endure yet a little while longer, and then, yes then, her victories will proclaim htr irresistible and incomparable, and then me now existing jealousies ana envio will turn to enconiums and laudations. They ought ; to enlarge their range of vision, and rid them selves of the notion that Raleigh and waxe county consuiuie tne aiaie 01 North Carolina. There are other towns and other counties, and they have claims and rights entitled to con- sideration every now and then. The Oxford people would like to see their capital a great city worthy of bur great State, but if Raleigh should ever, reach that pinnacle, they.; would not do any servile fawning. That is not the characteristic of North Caro linians and least of all of Oxonians.
